I don't think you know what its like to be a part of the audience, rather than the composer for once, hearing a composition as beautiful and almost utterly perfect (there is no such thing as perfect) as this. You've made a hefty contribution by sending this in, really! For a video game song, this is pure bliss. I couldn't be more happy with the results of this song. You sir, have won my rare 10/10 review score. Everything about this song, the drum beat, the little bloop noises, the rattle noise, the acid, the sound effects... it all adds up to create one of the best songs I have ever heard. Keep doing what you're doing, because I think newgrounds deserves more music like this. Superb job, and a well done!

CrohnTheViper responds:

Wow, thanks for the awesome review! It took me awhile to make this one because of how many different effects I had to put on the alien-like sound in the background to make it sound that way. Anywho, I'm glad you're pleased with it!

Its a cool song on its own, but I just didn't like some of the sounds. Specifically the old moog sounding instruments. They sound really old, like a badly-made 80s film. Also, there wasn't much to the composition but a lot of jumping around and erratic uses of synthetic noises. Anyways, you still did a good job. I've also never seen Don't Wake Robby, but I'm sure it sounds good paired with this song. Anyways, please don't take this offensively. It still sounds cool. He he. Keep up the good work, my friend!

Bobert-Rob responds:

Yeah, I should work on using better instruments for it. I enjoy it myself, but I have an odd taste in music anyway. And don't worry, I didn't take offense, I still have a lot to learn about the creation of music. Thanks for the honest review!

I'll give you two reasons why I gave you a 2/5. Firstly, this isn't really a techno song. This is more of an experimental and video game song. Be sure to properly categorize your music. Not everything that sounds electronic is generally techno. Secondly, the song is way too repetitive for my liking. There was hardly any variation, and it got somewhat annoying to listen to. So, I hope you didn't expect too much out of me. It has its own cool sound on the bright side, so keep it up. Keep doing what you do, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I hope your next submissions are bit more appropriate for their genre, though. He he. Keep that in mind. =]

CaptinChu responds:

Thanks. I really wasn't sure what genre it belong to. It was extremely repetitive, however, since it's just an experiment. There was absolutely no variation at all. In fact, I don't really think it's much of a song. Whatever. Thanks for your review!

Need I really say more? I mean, its nice to hear another opinion, but mine would definitely be a replica of these two other reviewers. You did a hell of a good job on this song. I won't subtract points for it being in the 'wrong' category, like you said. It still sounds beautiful, and I'm happy you submitted this to newgrounds. This is going to definitely place in the charts, and circulate for a while. I wish you well, man. Take care, and keep up the awesome work!

MilkMan-Dan responds:

Haha it's only in the Classical section for now so it doesn't get emmediatley zero voted since I have more of a fan base here. I'll probubly move it to easy listening or something later.

I hope it makes the top charts... your 5 votes are the only thing that can make that happen and I thank you for them.

Thanks for the review.

Sincerely,
MMD

I'm not going to tell you out loud what you did wrong, because that would be mean of me to do something I know would discourage a young artist. Really, nothing can be wrong, but there are things you could do better. First of all, this piece resembles a lot of playing I knew myself to do, and that was before I knew how to do better improvising. It'll sound good for a while, but it isn't quite a song. Its more like a new-age style of playing. Not quite random, I can see a pattern here, but the notes are still somewhat erratic. Second, the beat in the background is pretty good, though isn't matched up quite how it could be. Its also very soft, and the piano kind of shutters it out. But that's about it. You did good for trying something new. It personally isn't my taste, but that's just me. I'm sure others would think differently. I hope my review is helpful, at the least. Please don't be offended, and keep up the playing! You're getting there!

Androu1 responds:

Well,yes...it really isn't that random, since I used a kind of tune I made out a LOOOOONG ago.I just add a LOT of improvisation to it,so I can re-use the real tune later on if I feel like it :P
The beat is supossed to be really quiet there.I didn'r really want it to sound louder than the piano or anything,I wanted it to be quiet and be only there so the piano is not alone (lol).
I really want to make another song like this one...without all the improvisation, lol.

Well,your reviews was helpfull.Thanks!

Another quick review. I underestimated you just a little, but not too much, because you were already a good composer. This has a little old fashioned acid in it, which I liked. Its a very good walk-through loop, like Valve's Half-Life does it, or Epic Games' Unreal Tournament 2007. Ha ha. Keep up the damn good work, my friend!

Jimbobsthebest responds:

Thanks for the review Godknown... I hope you didn't take the linkin park song too seriously. This is just a loop I made for flashers so theres not much in it but I thought it may be useful for game menus or something.

Thank you for the review man, James

I give you my utter respect. You are an excellent composer, and one of the best I've heard here on newgrounds. This song was very emotionally powerful in the beginning, and then it drove on to become even more powerful with its throttling bass, quick attack strings, drums, and guitar. The guitar is my only gripe with this song, other than the sometimes fake sounding brass as it reached its peak velocity or style of play. Anyways, I love the melody in this song, and can't wait for anymore to come out from you. As a fellow God* user, I hear you, and feel you. Keep up the awesome work, man!

GodSpeedIam responds:

Thanks. I agree about the guitar though. There are NO good guitar VSTs out there but I really wanted a guitar so I bit the bullet and used what I had.

For a classical song, its just a little to unclassical. It sounds more like an RPG town element that you would hear in most RPG games. It sounds more robotic than realistic, which it sounds you like you were trying to make it sound that way. It isn't horrible, but I just think it was a bad choice to put it in the classical genre. However, keep up the good work, none the less! Good job!

Liau responds:

:P ya, youre prolly right, but NG has such a limmited category selection that I just dumped it in the closest one I could think of at the time... especially since I rarely make music like this ^^

This isn't whack or anything, and I kind of like how it sounds, but here are it's two main problems. First of all, I can tell you used two of Fruity Loop's built-in drum loops, and you didn't even slice them to make your own beat. Second of all, this doesn't loop all that well with the pad sound dying out so quickly then coming back up to speed at the beginning of the song. Its pleasing to the ears, but not very original. Keep working though, you're getting there!

SonicJ responds:

I knew that using fl's built in drum loops would be a cause of alarm, but I just needed something to base the song on. Second, I have no idea how to slice or dice anything in fl studio. Just some really basic stuff. Really basic. I am to please. Thanks for the review!

Not bad, my friend. But, there is a lot of inconsistency going on within the song. It sounds like you tried to layout your song in a program like Audacity and didn't quite pair it all up. There are time gaps that need to be filled in order to make the song smoother to listen to. I'm not sure if that was what you wanted in your song, but its very distracting, like that synth that enters around 2:08. Keep it up though, you're getting there!

777overload responds:

Well thanks.
I mean i don't think i am that bad at it but it's not like i do it to be pro. Just for fun i guess.
Ill try to put your advise in the songs
